About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred support in the health and wellbeing sectors.
The graduates will benefit by gaining recognition of transferable skills and knowledge valued across the health and wellbeing sector, and the specific skills and knowledge required to perform a role within the sector.
The community will benefit through the provision of high quality health and wellbeing services by individuals who are trained to support people, whānau and family and the wider community.
This qualification is stranded to recognise the specific skills and knowledge required for a range of roles and responsibilities in the health and wellbeing sector.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Minimum requirements

It is Dunedin Training Centre's expectation that a learner who applies for a place on the Dunedin Training Centre Aged Care Support L3 programme will: *be a domestic learner *be 18 years of age or older *hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (Level 2) or have relevant experience (voluntary or paid) *have the recommended minimum of Step 4 Literacy and Step 5 Numeracy on the Adult Learning Progressions or equivalent *have no criminal record. Applicants are required to complete a NZ Police Vetting Service Request and Consent Form prior to enrolment *agree to meet the required workplace learning hours (180 hours in total) *Be physically and mentally able to perform the role of the health care assistant
