About the course
What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred support in the health and wellbeing sectors.
The graduates will benefit by gaining recognition of transferable skills and knowledge valued across the health and wellbeing sector, and the specific skills and knowledge required to perform a role within the sector.
The community will benefit through the provision of high quality health and wellbeing services by individuals who are trained to support people, whānau and family and the wider community.
This qualification is stranded to recognise the specific skills and knowledge required for a range of roles and responsibilities in the health and wellbeing sector.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
requirement Academic requirements: Applicants under 20 years of age: NCEA Level 1 or equivalent For applicants 20 years of age and over there are no minimum academic requirements. English language requirements: All applicants must have a level of English sufficient to be able to study at this level. Those students whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate an IELTS General or Academic Score of 5.0 with no band score lower than 5.0 OR equivalent. Other requirements - all strands: Applicants are required to sign a declaration as to whether they have any Convictions Against the Law (apart from minor traffic convictions). In order to comply with the provisions of the Vulnerable Children's Act, 2014 and Child Protection Policies for all 'specified organisations' providing a 'regulated service', all candidates/students will be subjected to safety checks. These may include but are not limited to: i) Police Vet Check ii) Formal discussion iii) Information session Other requirements - Orderly strand: Current employment in a relevant role Special Entry: In exceptional circumstances an applicant who does not meet the full entry requirements may be granted admission to the programme on the approval of the Head of Department or delegate if he/she is confident of the applicant's ability to successfully undertake the programme with a reasonable likelihood of success.
