About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to recognise the skills and knowledge required to provide person-centred support in the health and wellbeing sectors.
The graduates will benefit by gaining recognition of transferable skills and knowledge valued across the health and wellbeing sector, and the specific skills and knowledge required to perform a role within the sector.
The community will benefit through the provision of high quality health and wellbeing services by individuals who are trained to support people, whānau and family and the wider community.
This qualification is stranded to recognise the specific skills and knowledge required for a range of roles and responsibilities in the health and wellbeing sector.
Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

General Be 17 years of age or older Academic Applicants must meet the following criteria for admission into the programme: NCEA Level 1 or equivalent DAS Unit Standards For applicants 20 years of age and over there are no minimum academic requirements AND Can demonstrate equivalent knowledge/capability through relevant work experience with the approval of the Industry Manager OR Have successfully completed a NZ Certificate in Foundation Skills Level 2 or equivalent Interviews Applicants are not required to attend an interview, however a programme information session will be held to ensure applicants have selected the appropriate programme of study. English Language entry requirements Applicants must have sufficient competence in the English language to undertake this programme which is taught and assessed in English. Any applicant whose first language is not English will be required to provide evidence of their English language competency as follows: English language requirements for applicants for whom English is a second language: Applicants for whom English is a second language (including international applicants) seeking entry into this programme must meet the current NZQA English language requirements.
