About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have business knowledge and skills that can be applied in a range of strategic business contexts.

Graduates will be able to contribute to the achievement of business strategic objectives, through the application of knowledge and skills, in an ethical and inclusive manner in accordance with ngā kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi (the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi), and in a multi-cultural environment.

The qualification includes strands that allow graduates to apply business knowledge and skills in a range of specialised strategic contexts. Some strands can lead to further credentialing by professional bodies.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Domestic students under 20 and all international students must have: * NCEA Level 2 with passes in English/Te Reo Maori or education achievement at least equivalent to NCEA Level 2, and a minimum of 42 credits at Level 3; or * evidence of ability to complete academic requirements for the programme; or * New Zealand Diploma in Business (Level 5) with strands in Accounting or Leadership and Management International Students In addition to meeting the programme entry requirements, international students must: * Have evidence of receipt of an appropriate visa; and * Be over 18 years of age (applicants between the ages of 14 and 18 years will only be accepted after an assessment of the student's support systems has been made). International applicants for whom English is not their first language will be required to show evidence of language competency, issued within the last two years. The level of competency required is: IELTS general or academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5, or meets a relevant English Proficiency Outcome as outlined in NZQF related Rules (Rule 18) - The Table. Special Admission Applicants who do not meet the academic requirements may be given special admission if they can provide evidence that they are capable of achieving the programme outcomes. Special admission may also apply for applicants over 20 years.
