About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have the knowledge and skills to establish, operate, grow, and sustain a small business.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to apply business skills and knowledge to a small business, in accordance with ngā kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi (the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi), and in a multi-cultural environment.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Both Domestic and International students can enrol in the programme. Applicants must: Domestic Studentso Be at least 16 years of age o Completed New Zealand Year 12 (NCEA Level 2) Academic requirements o New Zealand Certificate in Business (Level 3) or equivalent. Alternatively Skills for tertiary study (including literacy and numeracy) may be acquired through study, work and/or life experience. Students who can demonstrate these skills may be approved for alternative entry. o There are no other mandatory entry requirements, but students will be assessed prior to enrolment to ensure they have adequate literacy, numeracy and academic skills to achieve the outcomes of this programme. International Students: o Be at least 18 years of age o NZ University Entrance; or o Require IELTS 5.5 (General or Academic) with no band less than 5.0 or NZCEL Level 3 (Academic or Applied) or equivalent level of English as specified by NZQA Rules. o Academic Prerequisites * Completed New Zealand Year 12 (NCEA Level 2); or * A minimum of 3 years secondary education; or agreed Equivalent * Demonstrate adequate level of Literacy and Numeracy, preferably Step 3
