About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide Aotearoa New Zealand with people who have business administration and technology skills to work in a range of supervised general office administration roles.

Graduates of this qualification will be able to operate business technologies and perform a range of administrative tasks, in accordance with ngā kaupapa o te Tiriti o Waitangi (the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi), and in a multi-cultural environment.

Minimum requirements

1. Basic computer skills to produce documents using the Microsoft Office suite. 2. Applicants may utilise their workplace and working hours for workplace experience with support and agreement of their employer, provided it is within a health service setting. 3. Applicants with a relevant level 2 qualification in business administration wishing to pathway into a higher qualification 4. Applicants setting up businesses or running their own who require skills and know how in general office duties and use of office and digital technology to support business operations 5. Applicants may be assessed on their literacy and comprehension skills to determine readiness to study in this programme. 6. APplicants are required to disclose all criminal charges including past, current and pending as part of their enrolment. Applicants may be required to undergo a police vet as part of their work placement with health providers and this will be carried out on request of the health service provider and prior to commencement of placement. Applicants must provide written consent for a police vet where one is required. Where police vetting raises concerns with the applicant working in health services, the applicant will not be admitted on the programme subject to: a) approval of the Academic Manager who will assess any risks and concerns with the Applicant AND b) approval of a health service provider who can provide work experience for the applicant. c) other conditions may be imposed by Future Skills Academy and/or the health service provider to manage any potential risk during placement. 8. For the purposes of the Vulnerable Children Act 2014 (VCA) applicants will not be working or engaging directly or indirectly with children under the age of 18 years old, as core or non-core workers. 9. Applicants may be required to undergo a safety check and risk assessment under the VCA where policies of health services providing work placement require this
