What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the youth work sector with youth workers who have the operational and theoretical knowledge, skills and attitudes to contribute to the development and safety of taiohi.

This qualification is for people who intend to develop their skills, knowledge and practice within the youth work sector.

Graduates will be able to carry out youth work roles under managerial supervision and guidance.

Graduates will support the social and cultural aspirations of Māori and Pacific people(s) and demonstrate their commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi through their interactions with taiohi and their communities and their work.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Applicants seeking to be enrolled in the New Zealand Certificate in Youth Work Level 4 will need to meet the following entry requirements: * Illustrate prior successful study to a minimum of level 3 on NZQA framework or equivalent AND * Disclose any criminal convictions at the time of enrolment and approve, at the time of enrolment, the release of criminal conviction information from the New Zealand Police, to enable learners not already employed within the sector to be placed in a workplace setting AND * Be able to work or undertake voluntary work in a Youth Work setting AND * Are assessed by AGI as being suitable to work in the Youth Work sector AND * Have access to a computer and the internet to complete the requirements of the programme. It is recommended that applicants hold a current First Aid Certificate. * *Enrolment is provisional until vetting applications have been received and the learner can be placed in a work placement.
