What can I expect out of this qualification?
The purpose of this qualification is to provide the hairdressing industry with professional hairstylists who have the obtained the knowledge and practical skills to independently perform salon and client services that contribute to the effective operation of a commercial salon.
This qualification is intended for people with prior knowledge of hairstyling and colouring tasks and basic hair cutting techniques, who wish to develop skills and knowledge to become a professional hairstylist
Graduates will be recognised by industry as professional hairstylists, able to provide integrated fashion services, and capable of operating under broad guidance.

Entry Requirements
Minimum requirements
Aged 16 years or over (15 with exemption). Commitment to studying hairdressing. Satisfactory level of competence in English and Mathematics. Non-native English speakers must have evidence from a recognized New Zealand or Australian provider of having achieved IELTS level 5.5. International students must be at least 18 years of age, have a satisfactory character reference, and meet Immigration New Zealand criteria to study in New Zealand. Applicants will have been awarded the New Zealand Certificate in Salon Support (Level 3) [Ref: 2411]. Applicants may participate in an interview and skills may be verified by a portfolio of their work. Entry is subject to approval by management.
