Entry requirements

All outcomes in this qualification require compliance with relevant legislation including: Health and Safety at Work Act 2015, Animal Welfare Act 1999, and Vulnerable Children Act 2014.

Candidates must hold a Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Equine (Therapeutic Riding - Assistant Coach) [Ref: 2378] qualification as a prerequisite for entry to this qualification.

About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the community with individuals who have the skills and knowledge to deliver therapeutic riding programmes designed to complement conventional therapies and special needs education, for both individual and group of riders with disabilities.

Graduates will benefit by having recognition of their coaching skills to deliver safe and effective programmes in local disabled communities throughout New Zealand.

The community will benefit by having skilled coaches who can offer a variety of services to their riders such as education for riders with special needs, sport and recreation including support and assistance for Para-Equestrians and Special Olympic Riders, and therapy and rehabilitation.
