About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide the forest industry with individuals who have the skills and knowledge required to be employed in a production role in a harvesting operation. They will hold a senior position within the crew and will be able to contribute to the planning of a harvesting operation. They will be able to make decisions regarding their area of specialisation.
Graduates will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forest harvesting plant and equipment without supervision. Graduates will also be responsible for the maintenance of plant and equipment and will be capable of maintaining productivity within the operation.
The qualification includes eleven strands which represent distinct activities within forest harvesting operations.

Minimum requirements

All applicants must: Be 16 years old at the time the programme commences; Be able to read, write, and communicate in English at a basic level; Be physically able to complete the programme specific outcomes. Applicants for whom English is not a first language must have an IELTS general or academic score of 5.5 with no band score lower than 5; or an accepted international equivalence.
