About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide process industries with individuals who have in-depth and specialised knowledge of Industrial Measurement and Control (IMC) and practical skills in process and/or automation systems.

This qualification is suitable for those wanting to advance their career as an instrumentation technician or automation technician. This qualification is also suitable for candidates with training and experience in the electrical and mechanical aspects of industrial processes.

Graduates will be capable of operating at a senior technician level.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

General Academic Admission: It is recommended that candidates will have completed the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Theory) (Level 4) [Ref: 2252]; and the New Zealand Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Practice) (Level 4) [Ref: 2251]; or National Certificate in Industrial Measurement and Control (Level 4); or A relevant New Zealand certificate in electrical theory and practice at level 4; or Can demonstrate experience and skills equivalent to the above. Alternatively, candidates who have training and experience in mechanical aspects of industrial control or automation processes may apply for and be accepted into the programme. Candidates who have English as a second language are required to have an International English Language Test System (IELTS) score in the academic band of 6.0, with no individual band score lower than 5.5; or equivalent.
