About the course

What can I expect out of this qualification?

The purpose of this qualification is to provide primary industry workplaces with individuals who can safely and effectively carry out operational activities which involve vehicles, machinery and infrastructure.

Primary industry workplaces will benefit by having staff with the skills to safely and effectively complete operational activities relevant to vehicles, machinery and infrastructure.

Learners will benefit by having a qualification within a training pathway that recognises progression through the industry and enables improved job performance.

This qualification is for learners from a wide range of primary industry workplaces who want to develop a range of competencies that contribute to the safe and effective operation of a primary industry workplace.

Graduates will be capable of working under limited supervision.

Entry Requirements

Minimum requirements

Prospective students must have the physical capability to cope with the practical demands of this programme. Several unit standards in this programme have pre-requisites which must be met prior to programme commencement. Students will require suitable wet weather protective gear and farm appropriate footwear. Wet weather gear is included in the course fees for international students and is included in course related costs for domestic students. Information is provided in acceptance letters. Detail and costs can be discussed at the pre- enrolment interview. Domestic students Age: Must be at least 16 years of age or 15 years of age with a Ministry of Education early leaver exemption. Open entry with an interest in the Primary Industry. There is no mandatory prerequisites to meet regulatory body or legislative requirements for this qualification. International students Age: minimum age of 18 years old or turning 18 prior to the end of the programme. Academic: Open entry with a primary industry background or an interest in the primary industries in their own country. International students for whom English is a second language must attain an IELTS General or Academic score of 5 or equivalent with no band score lower than 5 or pass an internal test to assess their English proficiency level according to Rule 18 English language requirements for international students
